As of today, Jojo can do 2 magnificent things!
#1 - he blew the party popper all by himself!!! He could even suck it back in! From knowing zero to expert blower, even emitting the honking sound at times! No wonder he tried blowing out Grandma's birthday candles this afternoon...
#2 - of which he showed some signs...but this evening he kept doing it! The cot is no longer safe for him!! >_< Mr. Dandy-legs decided to do the prison break and free himself! He can easily scale the cot walls and balance precariously on the side before he was discovered! So tonite Mummy and Daddy decided to try him on his mattress on the ground. Surprisingly and thankfully, he was fully cooperative, probably oblivious cos he's realy tired. While trying to sleep, he tossed about like as though there were 4 walls to hold him in but there weren't! Bolsters and Mummy had to barricade him in but it's not a solution. Looks like we'll have to search for 'the one' that he can sleep in safely otherwise it'll be a sleepless nite for me! Suddenly his current mattress looks too small for him...

Jojo's regulars
One of Jojo's regular carriers...
Auntie Yanhao carried Jojo when he was cranky! Poor Auntie Haohao. But she did a great job! Uncle KK carries Jojo too! The trick is to GRAB,GO,DISTRACT!! Jojo especially like to look at colourful things and moving fans.
Another regular carrier...Uncle Dawei aka godfather-in-denial, being born on the same day. The funny thing is Jojo sees Uncle D. only once a week (Sunday), yet Uncle D. is always familiar enough for Jojo to be carried by him!
Many have come and gone...only the brave and faithful ones will succeed.

"I can do more!" says Jonah.
Yesterday, Jones did 3 leopard crawls consecutively! He was trying to reach his toys that got further the more he tried to get them cos his fingers were flicking him away instead of grabbing them. He can turn his body on his tummy 360deg! I can no longer leave him on the bed with a fortress of stacked pillows and blankets cos he's now able to throw them away!
All of his beds have been lowered to the lowest...Just now he actually pulled himself up to a standing position from a sitting position! Then he was bouncing happily like on a trampoline. He still needs to be placed in a sitting position. So when he learns how to sit up on his own, he'll be popping up from his cot to look around.
In a blink of an eye, Jones is almost 8mths old.

Mr Rollie-Wollie
Jo has been learning how to sit on his own. In fact sometimes he would whine to be seated instead of lying down! But today he was able to sit on his own and he sat real straight! When he's sitting in the cot, he can actually pull himself halfway up! That's why parents should never leave their children unattended. Assumptions may lead to some mishap. Soon we'll have to lower his beds.
Today while sitting, he had a 'timber' and I managed to catch it on video! But he got a scare, perhaps he pressed onto his toy while 'timber-ing', and he started crying with big tear drops rolling down his face.
Its true as to what the oldies say...'7mths sit, 8mths crawl & 9mths teething'. Well, somewhat true. He's sitting and his white enamels are revealing more of themselves.

The Grinder
When we were young, we used to gross each other out with the impersonation of the grinder. Every tasty food looked gross when put to the grind. Jojo did that today with his cereal and spinach bits but his cuteness distracted us from the grossness. He's slowly learning how to chew, I mean gum his food. With veggie, he voluntarily opens his mouth for more. Not so cooperative with fruits though. Maybe the sweetness is still new to him. Or he could just be a veggie-lover.

1st signs of enamel!
Today we spotted the peeping tips of Jo's 1st 2 teeth! Its his lower jaw front teeth. Pray that it won't be too painful for him.

1st taste of Broccoli
Today Jo had his 1st taste of broccoli. It was mixed with wee bit of carrots stirred into his multigrain cereal. But pity that his wait was too long so he ended up gobbling down his cereal together with his milk without really tasting the broccoli. Better luck next time.
As of today, Jo has tasted...
vegetables: 'hoi chye', spinach aka 'bo-chye' ("swee'pea"), sweet potato, carrot & pumpkin
fruits: apple & plum
grains: oatmeal & brown rice
cereal: multigrain & banana breakfast
Later today he will taste potato and kiwi.
It's really fun watching his face twist with curiosity when he learns the new taste. Thank God for no allergies.

Better and stronger balance
Now Jo can pull up to a sitting position without much assistance! It's amazing watching him develop. He is learning something new everyday! Now we can place him beside us on the sofa and he enjoys patting the sofa arm-rest cos it makes a sound. He's been promoted to the high chair as well though he tends to lean to one side.

Jonah's 5mth jab
Jojo bear had his 5mth 6-in-1 jab today. He's better at taking pain now. He cried for a while but was soon distracted by his sunny rattle.
Today's stats: (weight) 8.89kg; (height) 71.4cm; (head circumference) 43.8cm.
He's still in the 97th percentile...Mighty Jo (Swee's nick for Jo).
Today's the 3rd day that he's on the new sleeping program. He seems to be adjusting well to the 4hr stretch between feeds. Last nite he had his last night feed at 11pm and slept 6hrs straight to this morning! A vast improvement from the 3hr sleep gap! I wonder if it'll be the same tonight. I've yet to train him to sleep on his own though. I realised that I can't do this in front of his grandparents cos they can't take his cries of plea... In the end I'm the bad person torturing him... I must find a way...
